In entering into its second year, Seongnam Dance Festival presents an outgoing festival for the citizens of Seongnam with ‘Dance’ within our daily lives rather than ‘Dance’ within the boundary of arts. Various programs are prepared in locations all around Seongnam, including Opera House, Ensemble Theater and Square of Dance at Seongnam Arts Center, Namhan Sansung, Tancheon, Yuldong Park, Jungang Park, Hope Grand Park and others.

Rami Be’er’s Upon Reching the Sun is based on a section from the George Buchner’s play Woyzeck. It shows visually impressive moments, stage design, special lightning and imaginative props. The opening scene, where Randy stands with her bare back facing the audience, almost frozen under a single beam of light is spectacular.
Through seventy minutes of movement and dance, fresh, clever and beautifully realized, each scene merges into the next with exciting switches of musical character. It is a show one really needs to see to experience, to fully sacour the intensity and humanity of its expression.

Seongnam’s Cultural Brand Project Blooming Flowers of Namhan Sansung : Ewha is the official production project of Seongnam Dance Festival by Soo-Ho Kook. It is a total dance operetta where Seongnam’s cultural heritage, Namhan Sansung, and Soo-Ho Kook’s modern directing have come together.
It is an epic poem of a national calamity and of two lovers who disappear sorrowfully with it. The epilogue scene depicts our dreaming future like a picture and brings an exquisite accord between truth and imagination.

The histrorical project of Namhansanseong that will lay the old fortress in history. This project uses various spaces of the fortress to revive the historical site to defend the countries indipendence, to heighten the pride of the citizens of Seongnam and to announce the begining of the festival.
